This Privacy Policy applies to the Chess Master mobile application (hereinafter referred to as the "App", "we", "our", or "us"), available on Google Play under the package name com.chess_master.zm.

We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting it. This document clarifies the types of information we may collect, how that data is used, how it is secured, and what choices and rights you have regarding your personal information.

Key Principle: We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to third parties. Our data practices exist solely to provide core gameplay, save your chess progress, and display advertisements that keep the game free to play.

2 Information We Collect

Depending on how you use Chess Master, we may process the following categories of information:

  • Account & Authentication Information: When you sign in via Google Sign-In or create a user profile, we receive your public display name, email address, profile avatar, and unique user identifier provided by authentication providers to maintain your account and leaderboard stats.
  • Game Data & Statistics: Match history, win/loss records, chess Elo ratings, puzzle scores, board/piece customization preferences, and in-game achievements.
  • Device & Technical Diagnostics: Operating system version, device model, screen resolution, IP address, crash logs, and general performance diagnostics to ensure smooth application behavior across devices.
  • Advertising Identifiers: Google Advertising ID (GAID) collected automatically by advertising partners (Google AdMob) to serve relevant advertisements.

4 How We Use Your Information

Collected information is used for legitimate operational purposes, including:

  • Enabling online multiplayer matchmaking and friendly chess duels.
  • Synchronizing your player profile, Elo rating, and achievements across devices.
  • Remembering your selected chess board themes and piece styles (gutti).
  • Delivering and optimizing non-intrusive advertisements through Google AdMob.
  • Detecting, preventing, and fixing bugs, crashes, or unfair gameplay/cheating.

5 Offline Gameplay & Local Storage

Chess Master features comprehensive offline gameplay capabilities:

  • Offline 2 Player (Tabletop Mode): Games played between two players on the same device do not transmit any board data, audio, or moves over the internet.
  • Play vs Computer / AI: Stockfish engine computations are processed entirely offline directly on your device CPU. No moves or game states are transmitted to external servers.
  • Local Preferences: App settings (sound effects, haptic vibration, board styles) are saved locally on your device storage via Android Shared Preferences.

6 Children's Privacy (COPPA Compliance)

Chess Master is a family-friendly board game intended for general audiences of all ages. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age in your jurisdiction) without verified parental consent.

If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information without parental approval, we immediately take steps to remove such details from our database and cloud servers. Parents or guardians who believe their child has submitted data can contact us immediately for prompt deletion.

7 Your Rights & Account Deletion

Under Google Play policies, GDPR, and global data protection regulations, you have the right to access, rectify, or request complete deletion of your account and associated game data at any time.

You can request the deletion of your account, online rating, and profile data directly by emailing our support team or using the in-app profile settings. Upon receiving your verified request, all associated personal data stored on our Supabase servers will be permanently removed within 30 days.

8 Data Security

We implement industry-standard administrative, technical, and physical security measures (including HTTPS/TLS encryption in transit and encrypted database storage at rest) to safeguard your data against unauthorized access, loss, or misuse. However, please note that no transmission method over the internet is 100% impenetrable.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect modifications in our practices, new app features, or updated legal requirements. Any updates will become effective immediately upon posting to this page, with a revised "Last Updated" date at the top of this document.
